Anything over free is too much because there is nothing they can do for you that you can’t do for yourself. Buy a 3 in 1 report and getting cracking. You can save anywhere from 50 to 200 dollars.

If it is not your fault, nothing.

Don’t waste your money. If you have legitimate items on your credit report that are incorrect, you can fix them yourself. If you simply have bad credit, the only fix is time and to start adopting better credit habits - pay off your outstanding debt, don’t get in debt over your head, pay your bills on time every month, etc.

Don’t fall for that crap. You can fix your own credit. Get your credit report from all 3 bureaus. Examine the reports and look for any info that is not true. You then dispute the info on the form provided in the report. Also, you just call the creditors and make payment arrangements on all old debts. It is best to dispute items around Christmas because everyone is ready to go on vacation.

Yes it can cost hundreds of dollars and all they’ll do is what you can do for yourself.

Save the money. Here’s what the company you hire will do.

Get a copy of the three credit company reports. Equifax, Transunion and the other one (forgot the name at the moment). (they’ll have you sign papers that allow them to act on your behalf)

They will contact these companies directly either by mail or phone to let them know that each negative entry you have on the report is being disputed. The credit company then has to contact the originator of the negative report for evidence that the negative entry is valid. Most will ignore or be unable to respond in the 30 days necessary and therefor most of the negative entries on your credit reports will disappear.

You can do this for darn near free. Just takes a little bit of time - actually three phone calls and the original copies of the credit reports. The credit reports have the information for contacting and disputing any entries. Dispute them all with the exception of federal and state government liens re: tax issues. After about 30 days, your credit report should look much better. If you still have negative entries - do it again until the majority have been erased.

Oooh and I didn’t charge you a penny.

forget credit repair companies do it yourself

  • jannie says:

most of those are scams because there isn’t a lot they can do if you owe money
and they will ask for a sum of money before they do anything at all

It’s true you can do it yourself but one credit repair company (National Consumer Credit Services). Only charges you for items they are able to remove or improve on your credit report to the tune of $50 per item. This way you’re not stuck paying large fees for possibly nothing.
